May 16, 2006
The new Yahoo homepage has recently launched for public beta! It can be viewed now to anyone using IE or Firefox (up to version 1.5) at www.yahoo.com/preview There are a number of changes too the looks, including a bigger search bar, and intelligent use of Ajax to make the page more interactive (mouse over “mail” in the right sidebar, for example).Key changes include a “personal assistant”, which is a preview area to see recent emails, your online friends list from Yahoo Instant Messenger and other information (traffic, weather, etc.).
Check it out at: Yahoo.com/preview

Wow! Great homepage, but I was amazed to find it doesn’t support IE 7!
They won’t let you look at the page with IE 7, instead they ask you to try again later… Weird…
[...] I learnt through the AJAX Blog (here and here) that Yahoo! and MSN are both getting face lifts. [...]
Yeah, they seem to be doing some archaic user agent string sniffing or something, because they told me and my camino to piss off as well. Very very stupid. Maybe they’re using XUL…or something.
